Tension has dominated the southern Lebanese border amid anticipation of potential developments in the coming days, with concerns about escalating conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

Hezbollah has informed UNIFIL that any escalation towards Beirut or civilians will be met with retaliation deep within Israeli territory.

In parallel, the newly elected Iranian President Masoud Bezhskian told French President Emmanuel Macron in a phone call that "any potential Israeli attack on Lebanon will have severe consequences."

Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has intensified his diplomatic contacts following recent Israeli threats to Lebanon. In this context, he received a call from British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who "renewed the call for all parties to exercise restraint to prevent escalation" and urged "to resolve disputes peacefully and through the implementation of relevant international resolutions." He also received a call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, with whom he emphasized that "the solution must be based on the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701." The Egyptian minister expressed his country's solidarity with Lebanon, standing by it, and rejecting any aggression against it.

These developments have led some Arab and foreign countries to warn their citizens against traveling to Lebanon to ensure their safety and to suspend some flights from several countries.

Regionally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who inspected the site of the rocket fall in the Golan Heights, vowed that "our response will come and it will be harsh."

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant stated that Hezbollah will pay a price and that actions will speak louder than words.
