On the presidential front, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin emphasized the "importance of electing a new president for the republic," expressing hope that the Christian component will play an active role in this regard.

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri sent telegrams to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and the newly elected President of Iran, Masoud Bezkian, congratulating them on the presidential election achievement. He affirmed that Iran, as always, proves through its people that it is great in its revolution and also great and ancient in practicing democracy in its finest forms and manifestations.

Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari also remarked that the historical authenticity of Lebanon's message is founded on its people's belief in the philosophy of living together.

Regionally, the Israeli war on Gaza entered its 274th day, with ongoing Israeli bombardment on various areas of the sector. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 15 people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced persons in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Meanwhile, Hamas has given preliminary approval to a phased ceasefire proposal in Gaza and a prisoner exchange with Israel, after receiving "verbal assurances and guarantees" from mediators that the war would not resume. A Hamas official denied media reports in recent days about the detention of a movement member on the grounds of collaborating with Israeli intelligence.

The Associated Press reported, citing a Hamas official and an Egyptian official, that the movement had preliminarily agreed to a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal in Gaza. However, the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the agency that Hamas demands "written guarantees" that Israel will begin negotiations for a permanent ceasefire once the first phase of the agreement starts.

Internationally, U.S. President Joe Biden said he would not withdraw from the election campaign unless God descended from heaven and told him otherwise.
