Israeli Attacks on Syria

The Syrian army said Syrian air defenses brought down several Israeli missiles during predawn raids on Latakia. One civilian was killed and six others were injured in one of the strikes. The Israeli attack also hit the town of Hifa and Misyaf, state media reported.

 

Netanyahu Fails to Form Gov't

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a new government by midnight on Tuesday. Israel's President Reuven Rivlin now has three days to nominate the head of another party to try to build a governing coalition or ask the parliament to choose one of its members, even Netanyahu.

 

Washington, Abu Dhabi Talks

In a phone call on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed discussed the threat posed by Iran, along with several other issues, the White House said. The leaders also agreed on the priority of working together to address conflicts.

 

Egypt, Turkey Normalization

The Egyptian foreign ministry said on Tuesday, “exploratory discussions" will take place with Turkey in Cairo this week on normalizing relations between the two countries. The talks will be led by Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Hamdy Sanad, and his Turkish counterpart, Sedat Onal.

 

Iraqi Oil Wells Attacked

The Iraqi oil ministry said on Wednesday, Militants using bombs attacked two oil wells at an oilfield close to the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. Industry sources said the attack had not affected production.
