'Time to End the Forever War'

US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday, starting May 1, US troops will be withdrawn from Afghanistan to end America’s longest war. Foreign troops under NATO command will also withdraw in coordination with the US pull-out. Their withdrawal will be completed by September 11.

 

Erbil Attack Near US Forces

Kurdish officials said a drone dropped explosives near US forces stationed at Erbil airport in northern Iraq late on Wednesday. No immediate casualties were reported. The Turkish defense ministry said a separate rocket attack killed a Turkish soldier at a military base nearby.

 

Houthis Target Saudi Aramco

Yemen's Houthis said on Thursday they attacked targets in the southern Saudi city of Jazan, including one belonging to Saudi Aramco. The Houthi military spokesman said a Patriot anti-missile structure was also struck.

 

US Responds to Iran

The White House on Tuesday said it remains committed to nuclear negotiations with Iran, despite Tehran’s statement that it will ramp up uranium enrichment. US press secretary, Jen Psaki, described Iran's announcement as "provocative.

 

Iran Nuclear Deal Talks

Amid new tensions, talks to save the Iran nuclear deal are set to resume in Vienna. China, which has repeatedly called on the US to rejoin the deal, said the Natanz incident had left matters at a “critical juncture.” Iran accused Israel of being behind the attack at Natanz nuclear facility on Sunday.
