Prince Hamzah Accused

The Jordanian government has accused former crown prince Hamzah bin Hussein of plotting to "destabilize" the country. The move follows Hamzah's announcement that he had been forced into isolation. Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister, Ayman Safadi, said investigations have detected communications between Hamzah and foreign entities about plans towards destabilizing Jordan's security.

 

Iran Nuclear Deal

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Saturday, Iran rejects the gradual easing of US sanctions. He added Iran wants the United States to lift all sanctions. The comments come ahead of planned talks in Vienna next week on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and global powers.

 

China New COVID-19 Cases

China reported its highest number of daily COVID-19 cases in more than two months. The total number of new infections stood at 32. Ruili, a city in the west of Yunnan province, accounted for all of the 15 new local cases reported on April 4.

 

Ethiopia Mega-Dam Talks

Egypt said on Sunday, the latest meeting between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia over the Ethiopian mega-dam on the Blue Nile may be the last chance to re-launch talks before it is filled for the second year in a row. Ethiopia says the dam is crucial to its economic development, while Egypt fears it will imperil its supplies of Nile water. The three-day meeting concludes today in Congo.
