AstraZeneca Shot: 'Safe and Effective'

After several European nations suspended the use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 shot over concerns of blood clots, the European Medicines Agency deemed the vaccine "safe and effective". Following investigations, EMA Executive Director Emer Cooke said, the vaccine's benefits in protecting people from COVID-related death or hospitalization outweigh the possible risks.

US, China Officials Clash

In the first high-level US-China talks of the Biden administration, both nations leveled sharp rebukes of each others' policies, emphasizing the level of bilateral tension. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan opened their meeting with China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi and State Councilor Wang Yi in Anchorage, Alaska on Thursday.

Iran to Cold Test Nuclear Reactor

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said on Friday, Iran will cold test its redesigned Arak nuclear reactor. Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi was quoted by local media as saying the cold testing will take place early in the Iranian new year, beginning this Sunday.
