China Bans BBC New
A week after Chinese state television’s license was withdrawn in the UK, China banned Britain’s BBC World News from broadcasting. According to China's National Radio and Television Administration, BBC's China-related reports had 'seriously violated' media regulations. British foreign minister, Dominic Raab, condemned the decision.
Tech Giants to Pay for Content
Australia's Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said Australia will introduce landmark legislation to the parliament next week to make Google and Facebook pay media outlets for news content. Both US tech giants have pressed Australia to soften the legislation. If it comes into law, Google has threatened to drop its search function in the country.
